And time marches on..

Wow..

It is now 11 months since I started working with the construction crew at a new local power station..

I saw an opertunity there for my.. made myself known. stayed in contact.. got a job..
Admittedly I have done very little IT work over the last 3 months..aside from a virus outbreak near 2 months ago.... but the point is I have had a good time over most of the last 11 months..

I dont as yet have my next job confirmed.. my name is in the pot at a few different locations. I am hopeing that I get the opertunity to move away.. I am wanting to do this as I wanted to move years ago.. but desire to stay close to Rachael and Steven, other family commitments, marriage, kids in school.. and being next to bankrupt most of the time.. (child support requires 28% of my takehome pay - Not pre-Tax ).. I grumble.. these things had given me excuse to stay

One thing that has happened, among the thousands of things, in the past 4 months. I have seen a fellow who I would call a go-getter. He would look at everything that was going on around him and see the opurtunity in all of it. He is building a business.

But he was wasnt following some basic rules of success.

First was Overworking, not allowing time to plan, Rest and recover
the Second, Allowed negitive thoughts to invade his thinking.

HE was faced with a difficult situation with his plans for his business. He was only talking about all the things taht were wrong.. The Tender information was late, it was incomplete, he dosent have all the information he needs.. then the really bad ones.. I AM NOT ALL THAT GOOD AT THIS SORT OF THING.. and WHY IS LIFE SO HARD

Well that last one hit me.. My reply (it had benn thrown at me so many times), "It is how God sorts the actors from the real achievers."

A comment of how the person I was listening too was not the person I had come to know. I had to leave him alone for an hour or so.. but that was all that was needed.. his turn around was immediate and decisive.

If he gets the tender or not is not an issue.. he now has has the skills to sort through the similar situations in future.. One of those skills. being flexiable. he needed to change his thinking to deal with the problem.

It was a lesson for me watching his progress..

till later

Just had to post today..
Well it is the 17th.. And it is the childerens 17th birthday. Another stage in their lives that I haven't been there for them. 17 stages that can never be madeup for or replaced.
I've been a father to someone else, and it is a humbling role. You may not get things right all the time, you may not be able to answer all the questions, hell you may not be able to answer any of the questions. But the trueism is that we really aren't teaching our childeren to be master builders, scientists, nor engineers.. But this is what we do while we are teaching them what love is and how to love, we dont do this directly, it is the lesson in every thing we do, in every interaction with our childeren, every argument.
Love is one of the most misunderstood, and misused words. Loveing a child isn't giving them everything they want, it isnt making their path in life easy.. But it is our love that has us want to.
The one important thing to give our childeren is wisdom, an example of that knowing with our love what path to make easy and which path the childeren need to forge for themselves, knowing what to give your childeren and what they need to earn for themselves. But what they do need is to know you do care and love them.

One day... love you Rachael and Steven

This year is going so fast..

This year is going so fast..

Here it is First week in August and it seem like only yesterday it was Easter, and not much more before and it was New Years.

My Kids will be turning 17 in like 10 days (the 17th Aussi time)... well that means its time for them to get in behind the wheel of a car on their provisional drivers licence... wow..

Ahh yes.. Driving..

Man the road kill-going to Work.. that is a 45Km drive in the country.. on what our wonderful state main roads people refer to as an ***cough***upgraded***Cough*** b class.. dambed glad it isnt a Z class road..

Each week I see the carnage.. no .. I am not talking about the dead wildlife on the road.. the wallabies and kangaroo's oh and the odd hare and FOX.. No I am talking about sever damage to the vehicles.. in some cases the vehicles are written off.. the driver loses control after an impact with a Roo and increases the damage among the trees.. But some of these idiots, the drivers that is, seem to think that when a roo is spotted to swerve to avoid the animal, of course the driver has his foot on the brake while swerving.. .. the damage from the imact with the roo is low, the tree wrote the car off, or the roll...

I must admitt that I have been very very lucky.. had a Wallaby hit the front a few months ago.. bugger I was doing about 120kmh when I hit.. no damage.. Roo Bar dealt with the main impact.. Then a couple of weeks ago a lovely adolecent Grey Kangaroo decided to jump out and T-Bone the car.. Here is me thinking that he hit the roobar and front left mudguard.. yep here comes a $1500 repair.. lots of noise the car, rocked... This happend on a corner.. I had slowed when I saw the Roo on the side of the road.. but sped up when I thought he was a viewer, then allowed the car to decelerate after the impact.. loss of control? none.. just the shudder of impact..
Oh the damage to the car?.. I had to search for five minutes before I saw the damage.. the Roo managed to Crack the Plastic Wheel Cover/Hub Cap.. thats it nothing else... Lucky..

As I talk dont get the Idea that I am heartless.. ..It is sickening to see the animals bodies on the side of the road.. or a Joey standing near its mothers body waiting.. Fortunatly there are some people around who take it apon themselves to look for survivers..
I look at ideas on how to keep our two worlds from colliding.. other than sencible driving..hmm definatly 90% at best..(I have missed many animals but still have hit and killed 2).. personally I feel anything to help the animals is a lost cause when our wonderfull Main Roads people cant even upgrade a road that dosent need patching for more than 90% of the length more than 4 time in the 3 months since its "completion".. Yeh good Job Mr Beattie, cant run hospitals, cant supply water, cant build safe roads....so we have no hope of helping our native animals

oops political statement..sry people..

so I only have 4 to 6 week left at the job site I am currently working on.. then still not sure where to from here.. and most likely nothing untill next year.... hmm time to drum up some casual PC work I think...

untill next time..

Dont listen to the Donkeys

Have been very busy. This why I have been absent from my regular haunts..or should I say Forums.. and as such these Blogs..
I managed to shoot a shot or 2 of the construction site on my way home last week..but the camera in the phone is very ordinary.. oh and night shots as well..
Work ha sbeen flat out getting problems worked out with the Security system at work, as well as getting new staff setup on our network... I am yet to take on my role as the phone Admin as a full time task.

A lesson I have learnt, regardless of how little you knowon a subject, and the importance of listening to the users.. DONT Listen to the Donkeys.. There are methods that you know work, youve used them before. use them now..
It was amazing that what was becomming a confusing mess tidied up very quickly when I Told (not asked) some staff that a proceedure was to be followed, and others that problem/issue reporting required a filling a form, WHEN IT HAPPENED, the form needed to be dated ..
Not only did the complaints drop.. but the problem started to shrink, and we were able to better focus on the issue.. of and deal with staff re-training.
Now all we need to do is diplomaticly do re train 250 odd construction workers..

Oh .. thats one other thing.. now have my Construction certification card.. woo hooo.. means nothing.. but now I can work on a construction site..

Hmm I miss the viruses and worms... ... hmm maybe not..

It great to be using my mind again.. a bit taxing after a long weak period... Will put more work site pix up as I get the chance..

untill next time..

5% used

Interesting piece of trivia..

At the end of today the 19th of January, all of 5.2% of 2006 has past..

How is your year going? How are you going, have you started on your plans for the year? Did you realise 1% of the year passes every 4 days (3.65 days to be precise.

I know I am a bit perturbed by this.. I am lucky to be 1% towards my goals for the year...

That out of the way: Things have been full on since I started full time at my new job.. well I say fulltime it is really a gaurenteed 30hrs a week minimum. That and a couple of outside jobs, and joe public requests.. and pow I have some 60hrs booked.

I heard something this week, my son proudly told somesome one that I was his father. It has heartened me. But I would love to hear of both not just one. Why do some people asume that you love one child or person more than another?

I love my wife and step daughter and the twins. It dosent mean that I will treat them the same. It dosent mean that I will agree with every thing each does. Dosent even mean that I will talk to them the same. It means that I care about them, not that I am a robot to their wants. I desire for what is best, not to be a yes man for every desire..

Hmmm no more the till midnight reading and web browsing.. gotta hit the hay..

Extra day this week..

BTW: if you achieve all your years goal by the end of january.. your setting them tooo low.. and if you don't have them achieved by the end of december..your not working hard enough..no. well if you have 80% your probably close to spot on.

Untill next time
